Why This Recipe Works

Full of Flavor: This air fryer salmon with mango avocado salsa is absolutely packed with flavor! I seasoned the salmon with a chipotle garlic seasoning for a bit of a kick, and it is brightened and perfectly balanced by the fresh, tangy mango avocado salsa. Place this salmon on top of a bed of rice or quinoa and you might just have the perfect meal.

So Simple to Make: If you only have 20 minutes to get dinner on the table, then this easy air fryer salmon is for you. Seriously, the air fryer makes this recipe so easy to make! After seasoning the salmon, just pop it in the air fryer for about 10 minutes while you prepare the salsa. The salsa does take a bit of prep work to chop everything up, but it is so worth it for the extra flavor!

For the Air Fryer Chipotle Salmon:

  • Salmon Fillets: I made four salmon fillets for this air fryer salmon recipe, but you can easily half it for just two people or a small air fryer!
  • Lime: I prefer fresh lime juice here but you can also use bottled if you have it on hand.
  • Olive Oil: A bit of olive oil is good to coat the salmon and keep it moist!
  • Chipotle Powder & Garlic Powder: I used a combination of ground chipotle and garlic powder to season here.
  • Salt & Pepper: A bit of salt and pepper to taste!

For the Mango Avocado Salsa:

  • Mangos: You will want the mangos to be nice and ripe for a juicy, sweet flavor.
  • Avocado: I used one avocado, but if you are an avocado lover then feel free to add even more!
  • Red onion: A bit of red onion is added for crunch and flavor.
  • Cilantro: Fresh cilantro lifts this salsa and adds a herby touch.
  • Lime: For the salsa, you definitely need fresh lime juice.
  • Salt: Salt will balance the flavors of the lime and make this salsa seriously irresistible!

Here’s How to Make It

Step by Step Instructions

  1. Prep the Salmon: Toss the salmon fillets with the rest of the ingredients until coated in the spice mixture.
  2. Air Fry: Heat the air fryer to 390 degrees and spritz the bottom of the basket with cooking spray. If your salmon still has the skin, place it side down in the basket for maximum crispiness. Cook for 8-10 minutes until the salmon flakes with a fork but is still ever so slightly cooked in the middle. Cook for another minute or so, depending on the thickness of your salmon and if you prefer the salmon cooked all the way through.
  3. Make the Salsa: While the salmon is cooking, mix all of the salsa ingredients together, and serve alongside the air fryer salmon and either a side of brown rice or quinoa.

Expert Tips

  • Like it spicy? If you want this air fryer salmon with mango salsa to be even more spicy, dice up a fresh jalapeƱo and add it to the salsa!
  • For ease, use a meat thermometer to make sure the salmon is done! Salmon should be cooked to 145 degrees F. Some people like to cook to to a lower temperature, around 135, and let the salmon rest and finish cooking outside of the air fryer.
  • If using frozen salmon, allow the salmon to thaw in the fridge overnight. Once thawed, pat the salmon dry with paper towels before adding the seasoning.
  • Don’t have an air fryer? No problem! Check out my Oven Baked Salmon recipe for instructions on how to bake salmon. You can use the same seasoning in this recipe and bake the salmon instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the easiest way to peel a mango?

I know that cutting a mango up can be challenging. Check out this article on the best way to cut a mango with step by step photos!

How long should I cook salmon in the air fryer?

A good rule of thumb is about 8-10 minutes in the air fryer at 390 degrees. Every salmon fillet is different, however, due to their size. If you have particularly thick pieces of salmon, cook for 10 minutes and then check on it. If you are unsure if the salmon is done, use a meat thermometer to check the temperature is at 145 degrees F!

Is chipotle powder spicy?

Chipotle powder is only slightly spicy! If you are nervous about the heat level, add 1 tsp to the spice mixture and taste it before adding any more.

How to store air fryer salmon?

If you have any leftovers, store the salmon in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Store any leftover salsa separately in another airtight container for up to one day. The avocado in the salsa is what makes the salsa best to eat on the day that you make it!
